What To Expect

From Dr. Henderson

Dr. Lynn Henderson is the principal veterinarian at Henderson Mobile Vet Services, and will return all phone-calls and emails personally when possible. Dr. Henderson will be the attending veterinarian at EVERY visit with your pet. This creates a strong client-veterinarian relationship, and allows your pet to build trust in their 'doctor'.

Annual Wellness Check-Up

Your pet's annual wellness check-up will include a physical exam, with an investigation of your pet's head, body and tail, and all his assorted bits and pieces. Discussions of dental care, diet, activity level, and behaviour will make up part of the annual visit. Nail-trimming is part of routine care for certain pets and is available as part of the annual wellness visit.

Between Visits

In-between veterinary visits, Dr. Henderson recommends that owners keep an accurate medical diary not only of the procedures and vaccinations your pet receives from the vet, but also of notes on things like your pet's elimination habits, eating and drinking, and any physical changes or unusual occurrences. Keep track of small shifts in your pet's behavior, including urinary marking habits and mood swings, along with diet and routine modifications. Show this notebook to Dr. Henderson when she visits so she may record any pertinent details in your pet's personal medical record, and investigate further anything of concern. Do not hesitate to call with any concerns you may have noted with your pet's health. Some circumstances warrant a veterinary health call to your home, and other's may be able to be resolved over the phone.

Surgery

Often people ask what we do for pet's that are really sick or require surgery. Dr. Henderson is associated with the Animal Hospital of Beeton in Beeton, Ontario. This hospital has been recently purchased by two veterinarians from Toronto, Drs. Jenna Richards, and Radica Raj. The Animal Hospital of Beeton and full-time veterinarian Dr. Caitlin Murray will be available for any surgery, hospitalization, or x-rays required by Henderson Mobile Veterinary Services Clients. Dr. Henderson has worked alongside Dr. Murray for many years and is excited to have her nearby for her New Tecumseth and King Township patients.

For Clients in Barrie, Ontario, we utilize the services of Allandale Veterinary Hospital for surgery, radiology, and hospitalization. Allandale Veterinary Hospital has recently moved to a brand new custom-built facility, and Henderson Mobile clients will certainly feel quite comfortable there.

Emergency care for HMVS clients will be provided by the Vaughan-Richmond Hill Veterinary Emergency Clinic for all evenings, weekends, and holidays. Other emergency facilities may be of geographic preference for some clients and contact information is available from Dr. Henderson, and on this website.

When necessary, an HMVS client might require a referral to a veterinary specialist. These are veterinarians that have completed further education in areas such as neurology, surgery, internal medicine, and oncology. Depending on the case, Dr. Henderson utilizes the services of multiple referral centres - most commonly, the Mississauga-Oakville Veterinary Emergency Hospital - Further information is available upon request.

We look forward to serving you and your pets!
